The Virginia Tech FutureHAUS, as the sole representative from the United States, placed first overall in the International Solar Decathlon Middle East Competition. The FutureHAUS Dubai was brought to life through a university-wide effort that combined research by over 100 students and faculty. Situated on a 2,800 square foot plot with a patio garden, the 900 square foot solar-powered house proposed a new way to live and a new way to build.

The house is equipped with 67 digital devices, including touch screen control panels, automatic sliding doors, moveable walls that allow flexible space, a 3D-printed sink created in collaboration with Kohler and a smart mirror that helps users find their clothes.

This New York exhibition of FutureHAUS was supported in large part by Dubai Electricity and Water Authority, Dominion Energy, and Kohler Corporation.
